In 1984 Cynthia Rose Young prayed for a replacement for fur
coats. Something that would be as luxurious and wonderful as fur but
without the cruelty and the suffering. Within 24 hours the first yaigi was created. A fur-like garment made of cotton yarn that later became the first mechanically patented garment in over 75 years. She made history appearing in the newspapers and TV news and now Yaigis are appearing in many varieties. Each one can be worn in many ways shifting the paradigms of fashion in all directions. They are so unique that any Yaigi can be worn as a female garment or as a man's cape or cloak. They are truely universal and unisexual. |
